The Minneapolis Freeze beat the Joplin Fireballs, 13-2, at The Ice Box. The Freeze got a fine performance from right fielder Chris Saipe, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The winner was Julio Arreola in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Gil Ortiz took the loss. Minneapolis is now 42-19, 4½ games up in the TMLAAA Joe Torre Division.

Had Saipe not come through in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Saipe hit a run-scoring double. The Freeze never looked back after taking the 3-2 lead.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Saipe told the Minneapolis Daily.
