Fairfield Helpless Against Corvite, Lose 5-0
|
The Fairfield Flash manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Reno Raiders. The Flash were overpowered by Reno starter Jermão Corvite, who hurled his club to victory, 5-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Chris Schmidt said.
Over 9 innings, Corvite blanked Fairfield on 2 hits with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Corvite said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season, Corvite has rung up 2 wins and 4 losses in 12 games. He has an ERA of 8.58 and has fanned 47 batters in 65 innings.
