4-3 Pioneers Win over Marauders Evens Season Record
|
Vancouver Pioneers starter Matt Maxfield pitched a strong game against the Maple Marauders at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, leading the Pioneers to victory, 4-3. In 7.2 innings, Maxfield surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Kenny Poor earned the save for Vancouver, his 6th.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from first baseman Jamal Simmons. For the game, Simmons was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead.
Simmons attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
The Marauders fall to 9-13 and continue their lackluster start to the 2064 season.
