Cowboys Earn Clutch Win, 8-7
The Calgary Cowboys had to overcome a big game from Joplin second baseman Robby Baker to leave Cowboys Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-7. Baker was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Calgary reliever Roberto Mendez was the winner. His record is now 4-0. Raul Capetillo took the loss. By defeating Joplin, the first-place Cowboys improved to 42-25.

The decisive blow was delivered by Randy Ainsworth in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Raul Capetillo to win the game for Calgary. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Ainsworth.
