Peoria second baseman Tony Alvarez was sensational. He went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Memphis beat the Caterpillars, 4-2. Mike Mardis claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 6.2 innings. His record stands at 4-1. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Dean Armstrong.

Atissi Ikinya had a big solo home run for the Privateers in the bottom of the third inning. With Memphis leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Dan Boulter and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Privateers on top, 2-0.

"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Ikinya.

The Privateers, at 32-27, sit in second place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division.
