Swallowtails Dispose of Mustangs, 8-4
|
With Sergio Benitez leading the charge, the State College Swallowtails defeated the Billings Mustangs, 8-4. Benitez went 2 for 2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Swallowtails. State College pitcher Eric Church got the win, upping his record to 4-4. Jeremy Hillman got the loss. Matt York was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
The Mustangs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Swallowtails going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old right fielder Herberto Tonilhas came to the plate. Tonilhas hit a 3-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from Billings hurler Jeremy Hillman. It was Tonilhas's 4th home run of the year.
"I was able to square up some pitches," said Benitez.
The Mustangs have now dropped 5 straight.
