Matthews Shines in 11-9 Fairfield Win
Bill Matthews helped his team muscle past the Thunder Bay Black Bears, 11-9. In the game, the Fairfield right fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The victory gives Fairfield a record of 33-30.

Hunter Wells had a big 2-run double for the Flash in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Fairfield trailing 9-8 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from fireballing right-hander Don Levick and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flash ahead, 10-9.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Wells said.
