The Astoria Argonauts called upon starter Gomez Roches, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Calgary Cowboys, 6-2. In 7.1 innings, Roches surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. The save went to Allen Justice, his 14th this season.
Jaden Edwards had a big bases-clearing triple for the Argonauts in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Astoria leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Josh Caldwell and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Argonauts ahead, 5-0.
Edwards told a Astoria Observer reporter that the win made him feel "upbeat about our team."
Astoria, at 35-39, occupies third place in the TML AAA Cito Gaston League.
