Flash Fall Short, 6-5, at Calgary
|
Fairfield designated hitter Hunter Wells was sensational. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Calgary beat the Flash, 6-5. Matt Mansel got the win, improving to 3-4. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Jose Cedano earned the save, his 9th, for the Kodiaks.
The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from right fielder Angel Perez. For the game, Perez was 1-4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Calgary a 3-2 lead.
After the game, Calgary manager Stanley Harvey applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
At 33-41, the Kodiaks find themselves in 4th place in the TML AAA Cito Gaston League.
