Starting pitcher Jarrod Banta had a solid game. He was a big reason the Peoria Caterpillars throttled the Thunder Bay Black Bears, 5-2. Banta, now 1-4, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Jordan Curry earned the save, his 18th.

Peoria third baseman Ryan Wairimu contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 35th hit of the season and put the Caterpillars ahead, 3-0.
