Caterpillars Decked By Cowboys, 10-0
|
The Calgary Cowboys pinned a convincing loss on the Peoria Caterpillars, 10-0, at Cowboys Field. Antonio Marquez was a main factor in the win. He was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Calgary. Carlos Porras picked up the win, lifting his record to 10-3 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 1 in 6.2 innings, while yielding no runs. Calgary goes to 60-18. The win puts them 12½ games up in their division.
Sam Spurr drew 2 walks for Calgary. The 21-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Brian Honer. It was his 33rd walk of the season.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Peoria manager Leonard Lee. "They pounded us."
