The Thunder Bay Black Bears picked up a win at The Coal Mine, knocking off the Antioch Coal Miners, 6-2. Starting pitcher Jonathan Fairbanks played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Fairbanks. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Rich Swayngim. The win for the Black Bears raised their record to 44-37.

It could have been a different outcome for Thunder Bay, had it not been for Luis Farinas, the 28-year old center fielder . Farinas contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Thunder Bay up, 4-2.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Fairbanks told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
