Black Bears Beat Kodiaks, 8-3
The Thunder Bay Black Bears defeated the Calgary Kodiaks, 8-3. First Baseman Jordan Jones deserved a large share of the credit. Jones went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Black Bears. Thunder Bay pitcher Adam Rockwell got the win, upping his record to 7-2. Matt Mansel got the loss. The third-place Black Bears have a record of 48-39.

The Kodiaks had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Black Bears going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old shortstop David Owusu came to the plate. Owusu hit a grand slam home run on a 1-0 cutter from Calgary hurler Matt Mansel. It was Owusu's 11th home run of the year.

"We didn't play well enough to win," said Calgary skipper Stanley Harvey.
