Fireballs Make It 5 Straight with 8-6 Win
Good production from designated hitter Matthew Kolenda helped the Joplin Fireballs topple the Tallahassee Captains, 8-6. Kolenda was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Fireballs. Nate Lefkowitz was the winner. He's now 4-5. The loser was Jonathan Millsap. The Fireballs improved to 40-47.

With Joplin leading 5-0 in the bottom of the second, Kolenda came up to bat against Tallahassee pitcher Jonathan Millsap. Kolenda hit a changeup to left for a 2-run home run. His 19th home run of the season put the Fireballs on top, 7-0.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Kolenda, "but we got it done."
