The Billings Mustangs defeated the Waimea Wind, 12-3, at The Wind Tunnel. Billings was led by 23-year old second baseman Gene Crowell, who went 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Ricardo Reyes, who threw 118 pitches over 6.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits. Billings goes to 35-53, Waimea to 52-38.

Billings used a well-timed hit by Pat Bean to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mustangs ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"I keep finding places to plunk down base hits," said Crowell.
