The Reno Raiders grabbed a win, 9-3, over the Minneapolis Freeze at House of Pain. Reno shortstop Danny Amerson went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Don Townend was the winner. Over 5 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Nick Elder was credited with the save, his 1st in 5 tries.

The Freeze had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Raiders going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old third baseman George Tufts came to the plate. Tufts hit a solo home run on a full count cutter from Minneapolis hurler Devin Gammon. It was Tufts's 5th home run of the year.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Reno manager Rod Cirilo.

Today's win puts Reno at 46-44, while Minneapolis falls to 43-47.
