Racers Fall Short, 4-3, at Tallahassee
|
Bowling Green center fielder Jeremy Steinhardt had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Steinhardt went 3 for 3 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Tallahassee beat the Racers, 4-3. Andy Gardner earned the save for Tallahassee, his 8th of the year. With the win, the Captains improved to 44-50.
The Captains got a big at-bat from right fielder David Watson. For the game, Watson went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Tallahassee a 3-1 lead.
Said losing manager Travis Davies: "Not taking anything away from them, but we swung the bats better than what it showed."
