The Fairfield Flash topped the Thunder Bay Black Bears, 8-6, in RCL AAA action at Edgbaston. The standout performance belonged to Fairfield pitcher and Fresno, California, native Mike Whittle. Fairfield reliever Mike Whittle got the win, raising his record to 7-3. Bobby Papenfus was tagged with the loss. Scott White recorded the save, his 4th.

Fairfield used the timely hitting of Thiongo Hali to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Flash on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Hali.

Fairfield is now 46-53.
