The Amarillo Armadillos topped the Indianapolis Ambition, 8-4, with youngster Matt Griffin playing a key role. Griffin was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Armadillos in the win. Wayne Blanchard, 3-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Amarillo is now 50-49, Indianapolis 48-50.

With Amarillo leading 4-0 in the top of the fourth, Griffin came up to bat against Indianapolis pitcher Will Witten. Griffin hit a fastball to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 20th home run of the season put the Armadillos on top, 8-0.

"Matt is still learning," said Armadillos manager Tyler Bulman. "The sky's the limit for him."
