The Peoria Caterpillars took Minneapolis pitcher Victor Hernandez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Excavatar Park. The final score had Peoria getting past the Freeze, 2-0. Hernandez went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 4. Chris Moore notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now sits at 6-3. Earning his 21st save of the year was Jordan Curry.

Ben Gail had a big solo home run for the Caterpillars in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Peoria leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Victor Hernandez, who is tied for 2nd in the TAAA in complete games with 5, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Caterpillars on top, 2-0.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Peoria skipper Leonard Lee. "I can't complain."

With the win, Peoria pushed its record to 52-48.
