3-1 Triumph Runs Warriors Streak to 7 Games
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Walnut Creek Warriors and the Hawaii Honu, Russ Gilleo, who finished 5th in the TML in saves with 33 in 2064, was the difference-maker. The Walnut Creek right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Ray Clemens, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save. Walnut Creek is now 20-7.
Walnut Creek used a timely hit from Cory Keefe to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Warriors ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Gilleo.
