Joplin overcame a superior effort from Mark Hartje to beat Amarillo, 3-2. The Amarillo pitcher threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The Fireballs now have a record of 52-60.

In the bottom of the ninth, Joe Parry knew he could end it with one good swing of the bat. And he did, hitting a run-scoring single off Amarillo pitcher Wayne Blanchard.

"This one wasn't over until it was over," Parry said, postgame.
