Helt Good, But Not Good Enough, in 10-8 Loss
|
The Dallas Texans spoiled a good performance by Eureka first baseman Robby Helt, bumping off Eureka, 10-8, at Metroplex Park. Helt went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. The winning pitcher was Jean-Baptiste Jimenez. He's now 3-2. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits for the Texans. Chris Nugent, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Josh Guerriero had a big 2-run home run for the Texans in the bottom of the first inning. With Dallas trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Tim Woodlock and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Texans on top, 2-1.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Guerriero, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Eureka now has a record of 18-10.
