Thunder Bay Bats Cold in 6-0 Loss
|
Starting pitcher Larry Viola was a major factor in the 6-0 Fort Worth Cats triumph over the Thunder Bay Black Bears. The winning pitcher was Viola, now 3-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 2. The 6th-place Cats hiked their record to 47-50.
Ricky Pimienta had a big run-scoring double for the Cats in the top of the third inning. With Fort Worth leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Josh McCloud, who is tied for 2nd in the RAAA in complete games with 4, and swatted a double to left. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cats ahead, 2-0.
"Larry did a good job of managing their lineup," said Fort Worth manager Dudha Goli.
