Pilots Swat Marauders, 12-0
|
The Jacksonville Pilots handed the Maple Marauders a sound defeat, 12-0, at Arnold Field. Chris Ingram was a main contributor to the win. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for Jacksonville. Lewis Peterson picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-1 on the season. He struck out 8 and walked 4 in 7.1 innings, while yielding no runs. Jacksonville goes to 17-12.
Miguel Ruiz had a big grand slam home run for the Pilots in the bottom of the first inning. With Jacksonville leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Lance Kaeser and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Pilots on top, 6-0.
Maple manager Aubert Licci called the blowout loss "just something that happens from time to time."
