The Fairfield Flash pinned a convincing loss on the Memphis Privateers, 9-3, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Bill Matthews was a main factor in the win. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Fairfield. The 5th-place Flash lifted their record to 51-53.

Fairfield center fielder Roland McDonald helped the Flash go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, McDonald hit a run-scoring single off Memphis pitcher Kirk Hunt.
