5 Straight Wins for Cacti
|
The Albuquerque Cacti faced a tough opponent in Memphis pitcher Gary Halliwell, but still scratched out a win at Albuquerque Sports Stadium by a final score of 4-3 in 15 innings. Halliwell went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Vitaliano Baldato, now 3-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The Cacti move to 67-57 with the win, while the Privateers drop to 60-62.
The Cacti got a clutch hit from left fielder Trevor McLearn. In the bottom of the 15th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Cacti.
Memphis manager Bryant Thomas said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
