Mounties Top Hornets, 3-0, Behind Cortez
|
Montreal starter Leonardo Cortez put a stranglehold on the Eureka offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Mounties to a 3-0 win. The loss lowers the Eureka record to 18-11.
Cortez, a native of Palmira, Cuba, was dealing all game. He kept Eureka hitters off-balance, while giving the Mounties 7 quality innings. Cortez threw 112 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.
"That was a really good outing by Leonardo," said Montreal manager Thomas Hughes.
