The Joplin Fireballs wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter Ryan Davis, falling, 2-1, to the Thunder Bay Black Bears at The Firepit. The first-place Black Bears, at 66-44, lead the RCL AAA Tony La Russa Division by 6 games.

Thunder Bay needed the clutch hitting of Josue Paula to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Black Bears on top, 2-1. For the game, Paula had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
