Reno Earns 2-1 Win
|
The Reno Raiders topped the Joplin Fireballs, 2-1, in TML AAA action at The Firepit. The standout performance belonged to Reno pitcher and Penns Grove, New Jersey, native Joe Gleason. Alex Alvarado snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 7-6 on the season. Reno occupies second place in the TML AAA Joe Torre Division at 67-64.
Reno used the timely hitting of Troy Tobias to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Raiders on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Good ballgame," said Joplin manager Daniel Petro. "But we came up on the short end."
