Hess Goes Deep Twice in 7-4 Fireballs Win
A 4-RBI performance from the 23-year old left fielder Mike Hess helped the Joplin Fireballs beat the Antioch Coal Miners, 7-4. Sean Lapinski picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-8. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. Joplin, now 62-71, holds down last place in the TML AAA Joe Torre Division.

Hess contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Joplin in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Hess took a fastball from Jerry Fey and stroked the home run to right. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Fireballs to leap in front, 5-4.

Said Joplin manager Daniel Petro: "We squared some balls up."
