Raiders Hand Calgary 5-2 Loss
|
The Reno Raiders got a stellar performance from pitcher John Tait, who handcuffed the Calgary offense en route to a win, 5-2, at House of Pain. Tait, now 7-12, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Adam Sturm earned his 12th save in 16 chances.
Troy Tobias had a big solo home run for the Raiders in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Reno leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a curveball from former first round draft pick Nazir Nance and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Raiders on top, 3-1.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Tobias.
With the victory, the Raiders upped their record to 68-65.
