Slumping Flash Lose 8th Straight
|
Starting pitcher Daniel Thompson was a major factor in the 4-2 Waimea Wind triumph over the Fairfield Flash. Waimea reliever Franco Lano picked up the win, upping his record to 6-8. Ray Lovelace took the loss. The third-place Wind are now 71-66, the Flash 60-74.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Gus Ruiz came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Fairfield pitcher Ray Lovelace, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Waimea on top, 3-2.
"Daniel gains confidence in the confidence we have in him," said Waimea manager Orlando González.
