Hitmen Wiggle Past State College, 4-3
|
State College got a decent performance from pitcher Angel Galicia, but it wasn't enough to beat the Calgary Hitmen. Calgary won the Stars Field contest, 4-3. Galicia threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Roberto de Alba earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 4-5. Jaylen Hester recorded the save, making him 17 for 22.
Calgary used the timely hitting of Shane Fredrickson to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hitmen on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Sometimes, you can be too aggressive," said State College manager Juan Martinez. "You need to let the game come to you."
The slumping Swallowtails have dropped 7 in a row.
