Jacksonville Sends Bighorn Packing with 5-3 Loss
|
The Jacksonville Pilots topped the Bighorn Bison, 5-3, in Thurman Munson League action at Arnold Field. The standout performance belonged to Jacksonville pitcher and Houston, Texas, native B.J. Tourtelotte. Tourtelotte, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk. Tyler Martin closed the door for Jacksonville, picking up his 10th save of the year.
Jason Whimster took Bighorn hurler Wes Stith deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Pilots on top, 3-1. In all, Whimster had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 2.
Whimster called the win "a collective effort."
The win gives Jacksonville a record of 19-13.
