The Calgary Kodiaks picked up a win at Mckinley Park, downing the Calgary Hitmen, 6-4. On the mound for Calgary was right-hander Wayne Balaski, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Balaski. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Ricky Sanchez. Clay Clermont earned his 33rd save, after closing out the game.
Calgary used the timely hitting of Angel Perez to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Kodiaks on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Balaski.
The Kodiaks saw their win-loss record go to 73-56. At the same time, the Hitmen fell to 73-56.
