Baton Rouge Outlaws starter Steve Simons hurled his team past the State College Swallowtails, 3-1. Baton Rouge pitcher Pedro Pacheco got the win. He's now 1-0. Billy Seal was tagged with the loss. Ruben Rodriguez sewed up the save, his 1st.
John Rice came through with a big-time hit for Baton Rouge. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Afalku Coffie.
State College has now lost 5 consecutive games.
