Captains Eke Out 2-1 Win Versus Calgary
|
The Tallahassee Captains claimed a close win over the Calgary Hitmen, due in large part to Kurtis Rumsey. The Tallahassee right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Rumsey, now 5-7, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Tallahassee now owns a record of 83-76.
Tallahassee used a clutch at-bat from Chris Anderson to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Captains ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Bottom line," said Calgary skipper Brandon Ashley, "we didn't play well enough to win."
