Fireballs Win 5-4 Nail-Biter Versus Armadillos
|
The Joplin Fireballs defeated the Amarillo Armadillos, 5-4, in 10 innings. Colby McAbee, who is tied for 9th in the TAAA in triples with 6, played a big role. McAbee was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Fireballs in the win. Joplin reliever Erik Ames snagged the win, upping his record to 2-2. Jeff Dalton shouldered the loss. The slumping Armadillos have lost 7 straight.
The Fireballs got a clutch hit from catcher Ernest Fortin. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Fireballs.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Wade Marone, the Joplin manager.
