The Adirondack Lumberjacks put one in the win column with an opening day 3-1 triumph over the Roaring River Steelheads. The crowd at Paul Bunyan Field watched Stu Carnell put on a fine performance. Tom Novak recorded the save, his 1st.

Steve Reid had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the third for Adirondack. With the bases loaded and the Lumberjacks leading 2-1, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.

Carnell pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
