Tornadoes Fall Short, 3-2, at Eagle Rock
|
The Eagle Rock Ridge Runners weathered an outstanding game by Kansas City designated hitter Roberto Navarro to topple the Tornadoes, 3-2. Navarro was 2-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Eagle Rock pitcher David Baxley got the win. He's now 4-0. Paul Alexander was tagged with the loss. Bryan Young closed out the game, earning his 11th save.
Jon Pyne went 1 for 4 with a double for Eagle Rock. The 23-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Paul Alexander. It was his 17th RBI of the season.
After the game, Eagle Rock manager Paco Berroa applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Eagle Rock leads the Roberto Clemente League Central Division by 3 games.
