El Paso Triumphs with Late Surge
Mexico City left fielder Gabe Bourdeau had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-5, to El Paso at The Royal Grounds. Bourdeau went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Pat Henry, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1 innings. Morgan Henn collected his 9th save.

Jeff Gifford came through with a big-time hit for El Paso. The third baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 8-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Feels good to get the job done," Gifford said after the game.

The 4th-place Mavericks improved to 18-18.
