Van Fleet goes 3-for-4, Leads Mexico City to 9-1 Win
|
Mexico City and Havana took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The 3-hit performance of Rich Van Fleet, who finished 5th in the RCL in wins above replacement with 4.2 in 2063, helped the Mexico City Luchadores beat the Havana Stogies, 9-1. Alex Boulware got the win, improving to 3-2. He worked 8 innings, giving up no runs on 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2.
With Mexico City leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Van Fleet hit a fastball from Andy Schutt for a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Luchadores ahead, 4-0.
Despite the victory, Van Fleet was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
Mexico City is now 17-21.
