Pilots Pin 9-6 Loss on Pennsylvania
|
The Jacksonville Pilots powered past the Pennsylvania Butterflies, 9-6, at Arnold Field. John Popper provided some of the pop. He was 3-5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times. Jacksonville starter Ed Ramos was credited with the win after throwing 119 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Tyler Martin finished to wrap up his 13th save.
Los Angeles, California-born Sam Corson came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Pilots trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Jacksonville on top.
Corson expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The Pilots saw their record improve to 30-10.
