Earthquakes Get Clonked by Butterflies, 8-7
The Pennsylvania Butterflies defeated the San Francisco Earthquakes, 8-7, at Golden Gate Park. Leading the charge for Pennsylvania was shortstop Dave de la Torre. He went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Mario Solis got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Earthquakes to 4 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Dakson Rocket closed it out for his 10th save.

Nick Carnes had a big solo home run for the Butterflies in the top of the seventh inning. With Pennsylvania leading 7-4 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from former first round draft pick Peter Dillon and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Butterflies on top, 8-4.

"No time for flexing," said de la Torre. "It's always one game at a time."

The 5th-place Earthquakes dropped to 17-24.
