Big Day for Huggins as Millers Down Pioneers, 8-6
|
The Milwaukee Millers beat the Vancouver Pioneers, 8-6, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. Jeremy Huggins, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. David Austin, the winner, goes to 4-3. He allowed 6 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 7 innings. Picking up the save was Jason Phillips, his 3rd.
In the top of the eighth, the Millers grabbed the lead when Huggins hit his 2nd home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Kenny Poor made it 8-5, Milwaukee.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Huggins told the Milwaukee Gazette.
Milwaukee has a record of 20-25, placing them 5th in the Thurman Munson League East Division.
