The Eureka Hornets picked up a win at Thundering Grounds at Bison Stadium, knocking off the Buffalo Bison, 6-3. On the mound for Eureka was right-hander Jonathan Ortiz. He played a key role in the triumph. In 7.2 innings, Ortiz surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. The Hornets saw their record improve to 28-13.

Xavier Karin had a big bases-clearing double for the Hornets in the top of the fifth inning. With Eureka leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Dusty Eassa, who is tied for 10th in the TML in innings pitched with 50.1, and swatted a double to right. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hornets ahead, 5-0.

"Jonathan is good at sticking to his strengths," said Eureka manager Juan Montés.
