Apples Axe Princes, 8-3
|
Led by 20-year-old Ben Aldridge, the Carmel Apples downed the Bel Air Princes, 8-3. Aldridge was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks for Carmel. Jason Lilley claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Carmel, with the win, is 7-1.
The Princes had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Apples going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old first baseman Dominique Comte came to the plate. Comte hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 changeup from Bel Air hurler Ernesto Nido. It was Comte's 1st home run of the year.
"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Carmel manager Hi-yuan Pan.
