At Civics Field, the Ottawa Civics and Nichols Gnats were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Starting Pitcher Patrick McGeough was lights out, as the Nichols Gnats beat the Ottawa Civics, 3-0. The loss drops Ottawa to 6-4.

Nichols used a clutch at-bat from Rick Dresser to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Gnats ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Dresser said his team "played with focus and determination."
