Charleston Wins, 8-6, in 13 Innings
The Charleston Panthers downed the Nichols Gnats, 8-6, in 13 innings. Clifton Eggert led the way, going 4-for-5 for Charleston. Gene Aikman picked up the win in relief for Charleston, while Vinny Ortiz took the loss. Tommy Tyler picked up the save for Charleston, his 1st of the year.

Charleston used the timely hitting of Jesus Avila to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Panthers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"The chili dogs will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Eggert.

The Gnats, now 4-9, continue their sluggish start.
